ALL ON 4™
What is the “All on 4™” treatment?
The term “All on 4™” or “Teeth in a day” refers to a denture that is permanently attached to a jaw by four or more implants. This treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that aims to replace teeth in patients who are missing all their teeth in one or both jaws. The name “all on four” comes from the fact that only four dental implants are used to secure a denture or hybrid bridge.
“Teeth in a day” on the other hand, means that you will have all of your teeth removed and replaced with dental implants in a single visit. The initial restoration will be a temporary denture or bridge which will stabilize the implants and facilitate the healing process. After some time, once the implants have successfully integrated into your jawbone, your permanent denture will then be secured in place.

How to get started with All on 4™?
Patients are first seen at the Maxillo 3 Lacs clinic for a one-on-one consultation where an in-depth oral exam and complete workup is done to determine if the patient is a candidate for the procedure. The maxillofacial surgeons at M3L, Dr. El-Hakim, Dr. Makhoul and Dr. Gigliotti will review in detail bone height, width and quality, space as well as the patient’s medical history. If the “All on 4™” dental implant procedure is agreed upon, on the day of the procedure, the patient will be able to leave the Maxillo 3 Lacs clinic with sparkling new teeth in place.
Typically, dental implant surgery is scheduled in the morning at the M3L clinic. The procedure may be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with the choice of additional sedation. The type of anesthesia chosen may depend on your underlying medical condition, whether other procedures such as teeth removal are required at the same time and number and type of implants being placed. This will be decided in conjunction with your surgeon and anesthesiologist well ahead of your procedure to make sure that on surgery day you are completely stress-free and can undergo a pleasant, painless experience.
The All on 4™ procedure
When needed, the oral surgeon will first prepare your mouth to receive dental implants. Performed under local anesthesia and optional sedation, this step is aimed at removing teeth that need to be extracted, as well as any diseased or infected tissue from your jaw and gums.
Your oral surgeon will typically place 4 or more dental implants, two positioned at the front of the jaw, and two near the back to provide the greatest possible support and strength. A temporary set of teeth is usually placed on the same day of surgery and will allow you to lead a normal life immediately after the procedure. Patients are routinely surprised by how little discomfort they experience after the procedure.
Short recovery with little discomfort
After this procedure, a patient will be given some time to recover until the healing is complete. Patients are asked to take 2-3 days off from work for recovery, however many resume normal activities in less time.
After the healing period, the M3L surgical team will be working closely with your dentist or a prosthodontist and an experienced dental lab, to fabricate and set your final prosthesis in place and complete your treatment. Your quality of life will be improved, your smile restored, and you will start enjoying your favourite foods again with renewed confidence.

What is All-on-4?
All-on-4 is a treatment option in which a patient can have an entire upper or lower jaw restored with dental implants in just one appointment. With All-on-4, the entire process from start to finish can be done in just one long appointment.
Four dental implants are placed—one in each quadrant of the jaw. These implants act as anchoring posts to hold replacement teeth in place securely. Once the implants integrate with the jawbone, temporary teeth or a denture can be attached immediately. This allows patients to leave the office with a new smile after one visit.
Is All-on-4 more expensive than traditional implants?
While the All-on-4 technique aims to complete treatment in just one visit, the cost is typically comparable to traditional staged implant treatment in the long run.
What are some benefits of All-on-4 over dentures?
While conventional dentures have limitations, All-on-4 implants can provide an affordable solution for a more secure, natural-feeling solution. Some key advantages include:
Stability and Retention
Implants are osseointegrated or fused to the bone for superior retentive properties compared to loose-fitting dentures.
Natural Feeling and Appearance
Implants hold securely attached fixed tooth replacements, eliminating the issues of slipped or ill-fitting dentures.
Improved Bone Health
Stable implants prevent jawbone resorption caused by long-term edentulism and denture wear.
Better Bite and Chewing Ability
Implants restore proper vertical dimension for superb chewing comfort and speaking ability.
Confidence
Patients report improved confidence with a beautiful permanent dental solution versus removable dentures.
What type of replacement teeth are used for All-on-4?
Once the implants integrate and heal, several replacement tooth options can be attached. For lower jaw cases, a permanent fixed bridge is often securely screwed onto the implants for a natural look and feel. Depending on each patient’s specific needs and preferences, a fixed bridge, removable overdenture, or hybrid denture may be used for upper jaw restorations. Both solutions function much like natural teeth.
Can All-on-4 implants support a full upper denture?
The four dental implants placed for an All-on-4 procedure in the upper jaw can securely hold a denture with locator or ball attachments. This gives patients a removable solution that stays comfortably in place without conventional adhesive-dependent dentures’ poor suction or grip. Wearers report eating confidently without fear of their dentures slipping or moving around in the mouth.
All-on-4 represents an innovative one-visit treatment that can restore a patient’s smile using four strategically placed dental implants. While not right for all cases, it offers stable, natural results and avoids the limitations of conventional dentures in a single long appointment.
